Life at Lake Powhatan-1

Our moss covered front yard is just one of the many reasons we're loving it here.  The 11 acre lake stocked with trout is another.  Frequent campfires from wood we gather from cleaning out fire rings is one more.  We're 17 minutes from down town Asheville and Jubilee! and less than 10 minutes from favorite cousin William's house.
The dogwoods were in bloom when we arrived and this iris greeted us a few days later.  And then I spotted my first lady slipper in the woods since leaving Boone.  What a treat!
Often my days start by waking before dawn and riding the Burg down to the lake to fish.  It's about a 2 minute ride if I abide by the speed limit, 15mph.  Our commute to the gatehouse takes about 3 minutes.

Two casts resulted in these 2 beauties and we had supper for that day.  Since then I found a recipe for smoking trout and they are delicious!

This is our "office", the gatehouse.  Lynn and I work at the same time with her handling the paper work and money and me taking care of customer contact and outside duties.  I greet folks and get the paper work started, then she registers them.  If they need firewood or ice, I take care of that.  It's great working as a team and we both like it a lot.

Tickets for Brewgrass just went on sale so I gotta go and see if I can snag a couple.  Thanks for stopping by!  See ya real soon...
